press n peel sheets are now widely used in electronics, especially for those without a as the etching solution at home, and therefore does not have a contact printer and everything needed to make the famous PCB.
Until a few years ago the only way to get a circuit printed at home without using the photogravure was ..... or with transferable (..... or rub) with a permanent marker or waterproof. So
solutions were never given a convenient talking about quality time, those who wanted to build a small circuit just happened to be passing a lot of time fiddling transferable and markers to get a good result. Always
photoengraving was the most convenient, why not take a long time and was able to play with just a "MASTER" many copies of the circuit, but the drawback was that you could easily have a contact printer at home and caustic soda , also was never even this type of construction very easy.
press n peel sheets are a good solution (to me) for those who want to make circuits at home and needs to take only the acid development.
an iron, and (not necessarily) a laser printer ..... that's what you should have to use the press n peel sheet.
Actually it is very easy to learn to use them, if it is the first time you use them difficult to gain a good result now, the practice in the best way to learn !!!.... but we still need to basic concepts and examples to see, to learn faster and better. First, what are
- press n peel the sheets are heat-transferable non-stick (or better ..... just members!) Do nothing but keep the image printed with a laser toner, and drop it on a surface when you applies heat and gentle pressure on the opposite side of the printed or photocopied.
because it only works with laser printing?
As we know, laser printers and copiers have toner that acts as a deposit of ink.
This ink is nothing but a thin dust that is sticking, melting, on a surface heated by a laser printer or copier. For this reason we have the opposite effect if we heat a folio press n peel on a base, the 'image back to merge and as the press n peel sheet is nonstick, means that the image is "sticking" on our board more easily.
Now we turn to the practical realization:
Cut out the circuit that we transfer to our base copper
is important to maintain a good cleaning of the surface, it will be necessary to use a steel wool, which, inter alia, passing on the surface causes the emergence of micro-grooves that facilitate the joining of the image.
the picture above is a clear difference between the left and right sides of the board. On the right is by no means passed the straw, and then the surface soil would prevent good adhesion of the image of the circuit, the left side instead we see a reflection even light bulb in my lab.
So we support our piece PnP (press n peel) with the image in contact with the surface copper
Heat the iron to heat under flax (if the size of the circuit would be more appropriate to keep the temperature slightly higher than the linen)
You interpose an important folglio of toilet paper between the iron and PnP (as will be seen later in the video), by doing so we risk not melt or deform the PnP sheet in direct contact with heat.
The time necessary to make the whole thing is directly proportional to the size of the circuit, in our case are sufficient (as shown in the video) a few seconds and the game is fatto.Se the circuit were larger and the iron could not simultaneously heat the entire supeficie, you should change it gradually almost massaging, the whole contact surface, and from time to time to check if you are attacking the surface. To do this you need to check that the dark areas , dove c'è l'immagine del circuito, non siano uguali a quelle blu del folio PnP.
Per ultimo è sempre necessario effettuare touches with a pen, it is very easy to remain exposed areas and then cover with a waterproof color.
